Over 30 students submitted entries for this year’s media arts festival theme. Congratulations to SVC Senior Chloe Anady, whose submission was selected. The theme for this year’s event is Where Does the Horizon Meet Heaven?
Chloe’s thoughts behind the theme:
“I’ve always been fascinated by how God paints a new morning and evening depicted by the sky and its majesty. His art piece and designs in nature are seen far and wide by those who call Him Lord and those who don’t. In every detail of our environment, there is simplicity, grace, and pure perfection that endow His handiwork. As far as the horizon is concerned, it is an infinity of ocean, plains, or mountainous regions that He himself conducted during the impeccable creation process. When the ocean’s horizon at sunset is glassy, tranquil, and exemplary, it alludes to meeting the sky which can be referred to as heaven. As a photographer, my predilection of what to capture is during the “golden hour,” for it makes me reminisce about what things were like before sin, evil, and corruption came into the world. The moment when the horizon intertwines with the timeless sky is definitive of His essence and power. So the question still remains, “Where does the horizon meet heaven?”
Bible verses that corresponds to His craftsmanship:
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning–the sixth day.” Genesis 1:31 [NIV]
“He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness.” Job 26:10 [NIV]
