When you think about Disneyland, chances are you think about the great rides, the lovable characters, the beautiful grounds, and the yummy food. But if you’re part of SVC’s Jr. High administration, you’re probably thinking about the GREAT interactive educational programs which are available to your students at The Happiest Place on Earth!
For the past couple of years, students in Mr. Rodriguez’s 8th grade Leadership class have participated in a one-day course offered through Disney’s Youth Education Series. “I love the Disneyland Leadership field trip because it’s always a great bonding experience for our student-leaders,” said Mr. Rodriguez. “Through this interactive Disney leadership course, students gain a firsthand look into Walt Disney’s very own leadership strategies. This inspires and motivates them to become more creative, collaborative, and confident in their leadership.”
“Disney’s Approach to Leadership and Teamwork” is just one of the courses available through the Disney Youth Education Series. This year, the entire Junior High traveled to Disneyland to take part in one of four offerings. In addition to the leadership course, students chose from:
“Designing a Disney Story” – learning how Disney animators create full-length animated features1
“Properties of Motion Physics Lab” – exploring force, motion and gravity at work in some of the park’s top attractions2
“Disney Culinary Arts” – going backstage into Disney kitchens, covering things from kitchen basics to career exploration3
“SVC administration is committed to enhancing our students’ education through a variety co-curricular opportunities,” said Hutton Fitch, Jr. High Dean of Students. “The Disney Youth Education Series is an exceptional program which allows them to explore areas of interest, while emphasizing critical thinking skills. And, what could be more fun than doing this at The Magic Kingdom?”
