Much has been written about the benefits of incorporating enrichment opportunities into a young child’s education. From music to art to physical education – supplementing core academics with these subjects provides for a more well-rounded learning experience.
But unfortunately for many Kindergarten students, enrichment subjects have been cut back and even eliminated from the classroom, particularly in the public school arena. Budget cuts, “teaching to the test,” and a shorter school day have created an environment where there is no room for enrichment on a teacher’s lesson plan.
The good news: Enrichment is alive and well in Kindergarten at Saddleback Valley Christian School. Each week, TK and K students enjoy instruction in art, music, Spanish, computer/STEM and physical education.
